…life is so much more than working from 9 – 5 year in and year out…!

There must be more to life than working on somebody else’s dream; hoping that when I retire I have saved enough money and still have my health to do all the stuff I have postponed.

And what if I don’t get to live that long?

But since politicians are changing the age of retirement, taxes are rising and banks are not to be trusted – who knows how the world is going to look like when I turn 70?

And what if I don’t get to live that long?

Shaking hands with the devil

About I year ago I realized something big. I was running like a hyperactive rat in a maze. Constantly trying to find a place where I could relax and get a relief from the daily stress. I had a great job – sort of. I loved it but it came along with a major work load and in the end my life only consisted of work.

I was digging a hole in the ground so deep that I could shake hands with the devil. So I made a life changing decision. I quit my job. We moved from a big house in the city to a small cottage in the forest.

This is my story

In this blog you will find raw and honest stories about my journey. It might sound easy but in reality it is scary as hell to move from all I knew to all unknown territory. I write about the steps along the way and hopefully by doing this I give others the courage to do the same.

Since I am not all that interesting I also interview people who in their own lives have done something courageous: Like being an astronaut at NASA, a jungle pilot in Indonesia or climbing mountains.

Please forgive me

My goal is to present you with a new post every 2nd week. This however sometimes turns out to be hard to achieve. Working full time does take a lot of time and sometimes there is nothing left for the blogging.

Please forgive me if I do not post on a regular basis. I am still working on somebody else’s dream.

I couldn’t agree more! I moved to England in 2002, and it has certainly made me look at the world in a different way than if I’d stayed in Sweden all the time. Don’t get me wrong, Sweden has lots of good points, but it still is a bit of an “ankdamm” when it comes to political debate!
After all, Sweden has about 10 million people, the UK has around 65….

Now that I have retired I don’t want to be stuck in a flat in Göteborg (where two of my children live), so I’ve bought a motorhome and will give that a try. It is insulated and should cople with winter, so I don’t have to go south unless I feel like it.

    Wish me luck!

    Hi – eller kanske hej?
I live in England since 2002, am Swedish tho. I read in one of your blog posts about what to do before you “kick the bucket”. It is an idiom meaning “to die”. Here’s what Wikipedia says:
“A person standing on a pail or a bucket, with their head in a slip noose would kick the bucket as to commit suicide. The OED (Oxford English Dictionary” describes as more plausible the archaic use of a “bucket” as a beam from which a pig is hung by its feet prior to being slaughtered.”

Now you know a bit more! And, by the way, I follow you since I am thinking about changing my life, ie moving into a motorhome and travel!
